The Grant Park Fire District Training Division operates under the standards of the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal. Upon hire, all employees are sent to a state recognized fire academy as well as an Emt-Basic course to obtain the minimum required certifications.
Once firefighters obtain their basic certifications, they have the opportunity to further their training in advanced firefighting, hazardous materials, technical rescue, fire investigation and officer development training.
Members of the Grant Park Fire District participate in a rigorous training program throughout the years to meet state standards and ISO requirements in training. Typically each firefighter trains a minimum 300 hours annually.
