The Grant Park Fire District prides ourselves in providing a strong community outreach program to the community. Throughout the year, GPFD members attend community functions providing first aid and blood pressure screening during various community events, providing public education and information to the community and lastly interacting with all ages but especially our youth to teach fire safety as they grow up.
Throughout the year, we offer two levels of CPR training to the community. BLS Healthcare Provider as well as Heart Saver are the two courses we teach. All classes will be held at Grant Park Fire District Station 1 located at 12624 E. Route 1 & 17, Grant Park, IL.
BLS Healthcare Provider - This is the most common type of CPR certification needed by healthcare professionals. We will be going over Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, Chocking, and AED. You will recieve your AHA CPR ecard within a few days after completion of the class and it will remain valid for 2 years.
Heart Saver - This course was designed to meet the needs of the layperson as well as the fitness, education, and childcare professional. Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, and Chocking training are included in this program. You will receive your AHA CPR ecard within a few days of the completion of hte class and it will remain valid for 2 years.

The Grant Park Fire District requires all properties in the fire district to install and maintain working smoke detectors in single and multi-family dwellings. Under Ordinance #02-16, the Grant Park Fire District must inspect all properties prior to closing on a sale for single and multi-family dwellings. Under this ordinance, the fire district requires these properties to have a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector on each level of the residence including the basement, a working smoke detector within 15' of every bedroom (room with a closet), and 15' of the furnace area. Additionally, the fire district requires proper address signage to be posted on the residence with 3" letters visible from the street. The Grant Park Fire District has adopted the 2015 International Fire Code with amendments for any occupancy residing in the jurisdiction of the Grant Park Fire District. This code serves as the fire prevention code for the fire district. A copy of the ordinance with amendments can be found in the ordinance section of this website.
